All three airports operated by Queensland Airports Limited (QAL) at Gold Coast, Townsville and Mount Isa, achieved all time monthly passenger throughput records in July. “All three airports service very different markets and it is encouraging to see them all achieve such record results simultaneously,” said Dennis Chant, Managing Director of QAL.
The three airports owned and operated by Queensland Airports Limited at Gold Coast, Townsville and Mount Isa had almost 7 million passenger movements for the 2009/10 financial year. This is an increase of 9.7% over the previous year. In a difficult period, all three airports experienced year on year growth. Mount Isa and Townsville recorded growth of 1.2% and 3.8% respectively whilst Gold Coast experienced a strong 12% increase. With an international throughput for the year in excess of 755,000 Gold Coast cemented its position as the fifth busiest international airport in Australia. With a total of 5,170,019 domestic and international passengers it is the country’s sixth busiest airport overall. Growth in international passenger movements was 47.8%.
The three airports owned and operated by Queensland Airports Limited (QAL) at Gold Coast, Townsville and Mount Isa recorded almost 600,000 passenger movements collectively for the month of April, an increase of 10% compared to April 2009. Gold Coast Airport continues to record strong growth in both domestic and international travel, up 10% and 27% respectively on the same time last year. More than 448,000 passengers travelled through Gold Coast Airport last month.
The three airports owned and operated by Queensland Airports Limited (QAL) at Gold Coast, Townsville and Mount Isa recorded more than 550,000 passenger movements collectively for the month of February, an increase of 18% compared to February 2009. The results for entire QAL Group were very positive. Mount Isa Airport delivered its most significant increase in twelve months – almost 30% growth on this time last year.
The three airports owned and operated by Queensland Airports Limited (QAL) at Gold Coast, Townsville and Mount Isa recorded just over 594,000 passenger movements collectively for the month of January, an increase of 2.9% compared to January 2009.

Total passenger movements through the three airports owned and operated by Queensland Airports Limited (QAL) at Gold Coast, Townsville and Mount Isa for the month of November continue to be strong. The passenger movements for the QAL Group for November 2009 were 564,744. This is an increase of 9.85% compared to November 2008.

The three airports owned and operated by Queensland Airports Limited (QAL) at Townsville, Mount Isa and Gold Coast have recorded another month of aggregate growth in passenger movements. The passenger movements for the QAL Group for September 2009 were 585,297. This represented a 12.97% increase compared to September 2008.
