QAL EXTENDS SUPPORT TO HELP LOWER REGIONAL FARES

Queensland Airports Limited, the owner and operator of Townsville, Mount Isa and Longreach airports, has extended its agreement with independent airline Regional Express (Rex) to help keep airfare costs lower for regional Queenslanders.

The accomplished airport operator agreed to continue its support of the Rex community fare scheme following completion of its six-month trial at the end of January.

GROWTH CONTINUES IN JANUARY FOR QUEENSLAND AIRPORTS

Queensland Airports Limited had a strong start to the year, recording positive growth at all four of its ports during January 2020.

A total of 790,034 passengers passed through QAL’s four ports during January 2020, representing 1.5 per cent growth on the previous corresponding period.

QAL RENEWS MOU WITH GRIFFITH UNIVERSITY

Griffith University and Queensland Airports Limited have pledged to continue their partnership for a further three years after renewing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

Griffith University Vice Chancellor and President, Professor Carolyn Evans, said the MOU extension would provide valuable opportunities for Griffith students and QAL, which would benefit Gold Coast business and industry more widely.

QUEENSLAND AIRPORTS ENDS YEAR ON HIGH AFTER BUMPER DECEMBER

Queensland Airports Limited ended 2019 on a high note, with a calendar year passenger number record, boosted by a positive finish to the year on the Gold Coast and a strong result for the 12 months at Mount Isa.

A total of 8,402,594 passengers passed through QAL’s four ports during 2019, which was a slight increase on the year before when 8,399,352 passengers were recorded.

PASSENGER NUMBERS INCREASE AGAIN FOR QUEENSLAND AIRPORTS

Passenger numbers remained in positive territory for Queensland Airports Limited in November, with a 0.8 per cent increase for the group or 685,200 people travelling through its four airports in the month.

QAL CEO Chris Mills said passenger numbers had improved in the second half of the calendar year and hoped the trend would continue for the group, which owns and operates the Gold Coast, Townsville, Mount Isa and Longreach airports.

PASSENGER NUMBERS SOAR IN OCTOBER

Passenger numbers at Queensland Airports Limited’s four ports rose 3.7 per cent last month, delivering the strongest October figures and the third strongest month ever for the group.

More than 769,650 passengers passed through QAL’s four airports in October 2019, representing a 3.7 per cent rise on the previous corresponding period.

Passenger numbers at Queensland Airports Limited’s four ports rose 3.2 per cent in September as holidaymakers made the most of the spring break.

More than 718,250 passengers passed through QAL’s four airports in September this year, representing a 3.2 per cent rise on the previous corresponding period.

A total of 763,845 passengers passed through Queensland Airports Limited’s (QAL) four airports during July 2019, representing the strongest July ever for the group and the fourth strongest month on record.

Passenger numbers for the company’s largest port, Gold Coast Airport, rose 1.7 per cent during the month, as visitors made the most of the winter holidays.

More than 8.3 million passengers passed through Queensland Airports Limited’s (QAL) four airports in the 12 months to July.

While down overall on the previous financial year, Queensland Airports reported growth in passenger numbers across all four airports in May and June 2019, a positive indicator for the year ahead.
