Today marks a milestone in the control and management of Longreach Regional Airport.
Longreach Airport Pty Ltd (LAPL) has acquired a 99 year lease over the airport from Longreach Regional Council (LRC). The lease was acquired for an up-front payment of $2.5 million.
LAPL is a 100% owned subsidiary of Queensland Airports Limited (QAL). QAL is a 100% Australian-owned and Queensland based company.
The three airports owned and operated by Queensland Airports Limited (QAL) at Gold Coast, Townsville and Mount Isa recorded just over 633,000 passenger movements collectively for the month of August. This was an increase of 7.6% for the QAL Group over the same period last year.

Queensland Airports Limited (QAL) has completed a major $532m refinancing of its senior debt facilities.
QAL has secured funding from a group of four banks made up of Commonwealth Bank of Australia, National Australia Bank, Westpac and Royal Bank of Canada. The funding is spread across three and five year terms. The new facility refinances exiting debt totalling $468m and provides capacity for QAL to fund further expansion and upgrade works at its three airports in Gold Coast, Townsville and Mount Isa.

This was a decrease of 5.3% for the QAL Group over the same period last year.
Gold Coast Airport recorded 419,069 passengers, a decrease of 7.5% over August last year.

This was a decrease of 4.3% for the QAL Group over the same period last year.
The three airports owned and operated by Queensland Airports Limited at Gold Coast, Townsville and Mount Isa recorded more than 7 million passenger movements for the 2010/11 financial year. This is an increase of 5.5% over the previous year and the first time the QAL Group has exceeded 7 million passengers.
In a difficult period, all three airports experienced year on year growth. Gold Coast Airport recorded more than 5.4 million passengers (+5.3%), Mount Isa recorded more than 217,000 passengers (+19.5%) and Townsville recorded more than 1.67 million passengers (+4.6%).
